Here is a quick process to get started with our services!
First of all, you need to send us the complete drawings set preferably in PDF format along with the scope of work you want us to cover. Our team of estimators will review the drawings.
After reviewing the project drawings, we'll prepare a firm quote of cost and time to complete the particular project. Once we have an agreement, we'll send you an initial invoice of 50% to get the estimating started.
After we completed working on the job, we'll send you the final sheet along with the invoice of pending payment. Once you make the final payment, we'll send you the rest of the project files.
Concrete structures are the backbone of any building and site work, which involves a lot of money in the form of intense labor and expensive materials. On the one hand, concrete projects can help concrete contractors rise from the ashes and achieve significant milestones in the form of high construction profits, but on the other hand, they can belly-up the construction company. The success and failure of concrete jobs mainly depend on the contractors’ estimating takeoffs and submitted pricing numbers for bidding. Highly accurate estimating takeoffs and pricing are critical to winning and securing more profits in concrete construction. Many contractors hire expensive concrete estimators to streamline their concrete estimating takeoffs to achieve high profits. They cost them a lot of money and often do not prove to be as productive as a team of estimators can be.
Keeping that in mind, BIDWINSOLUTIONS provides a cost-effective and experienced team of estimators that assure 100% accuracy and aggressive bidding for concrete projects to help our substantial clients bid and win more jobs with high profits. We understand that accurate cost projections are the backbone of successful project planning, and we’re here to provide you with precisely that. Our experienced estimators meticulously and thoroughly assess every aspect of your concrete project, from the foundation to the finishing touches.
Concrete estimators must pay deep attention to the structural and architectural drawings, read respective specifications, and go through every sectional detail for accurate concrete takeoffs. Likewise, labor and equipment allocation in concrete trade is very critical, along with productivity, to achieve the most accurate pricing.
We breakdown the concrete estimating worksheet into the following categories based on the available details and information on the plans:
Below Grade Concrete
On Grade Concrete
Our team of specialized concrete estimators also calculates the complete assembly for the above-mentioned items to present detailed and accurate estimates to the General Contractor or Builder for better chances of getting awarded. Further breakdown involves these items:
Concrete: Concrete is always calculated and separated based on PSI- 3000 PSI to 4500 PSI and so on
Reinforcement (Steel Rebar): Based on Cut lengths, Weight and Bar numbers (#3, #4, and #5 to #11)
Formwork: In the form of Square feet contact area (SFCA)
Excavation: Excavation by hand or by using an Excavator
Backfill: Compacted native backfill, Crushed stone backfill
Miscellaneous: Control and expansion joints, Insulation, Drainage pipes, etc.
Concrete
Concrete remains an integral part of structure works in any superstructure or residential building. Although steel structures dominate the market, concrete never loses value and remains vital as a below-grade load-bearing structure and shearing resistance for superstructures.
Concrete is usually calculated as Cubic Feet or Cubic Yards for all concrete elements, i.e., Beams, columns, and footings. Let’s consider an example of a 100-foot-long concrete grade beam with a width and height of 2 feet and 4 feet, respectively. Concrete will be 100x4x2 cubic feet (CF) or 100x4x2/27 cubic yards (CY).
Reinforcement (Steel Rebar)
The client’s requirements are necessary for calculating steel rebars, but mostly, we provide quantities in pounds. Another essential consideration while calculating the reinforcement is the steel grade, which can be Grade 40, Grade 60, etc. Here are some types of reinforcement and their uses for the concrete structures:
Negative reinforcement: Used to work against negative bending moment in the reinforced concrete elements
Steel Mesh in Concrete Slabs: Used in concrete slabs less than 12″ to increase structural integrity and improve tensile strength to avoid cracks
Epoxy Coated Rebars: Used in place of conventional rebars to provide strength and protection against corrosion in the marine or exposed to water structures
To calculate the steel rebars for the example mentioned above of 100 feet long-grade beam, we first need to calculate longitudinal bars and then the stirrups.
No of bars Longitudinal bars = 12
Length of each bar = 95
Bar # 6 unit weight = 1.5 lb/ft
Total weight of Longitudinal bars = 12x95x1.5 = 1710 LBs
BIDWINSOLUTIONS ensures accurate, detailed takeoffs and productivity-inclusive labor and equipment prices with continuous support and collaboration with the concrete contractors to hit the target. We collaborate with the clients from the project start to finish, send critical RFIs (Requests for information) to the General Contractors and Builders, and assume any missing information as per the vast practical knowledge of experienced concrete estimators to submit bids on time. We also have a hierarchy of experienced estimators organized professionally to leave no stone unturned in thoroughly reviewing the estimating takeoffs and pricing.
